Bloody Reminders

Cole casually strolls to the pretzel shop. He finds it easily and steps inside, entirely forgetting about his gunshot wound due to the adrenaline coursing through him right now. Blood is pouring onto the floor beside him as Wendell looks up from behind the display cases. At first he gives a welcoming smile but it quickly shifts to pure horror as his jaw drops.

Cole raises an eyebrow as he asks, "What? Do I have something on my face?"

Wendell is quiet as he steps back and dashes into the back room. Sitting on one of the bar stools however is Rosey. She turns to see what Wendell saw as her ears perk up. She gets up from her seat and speaks, "You're getting blood all over the floor!"

Cole looks down at his arms as his eyes widen, "Ah...I forgot I got shot earlier..."

Rosey grabs her bag and takes out a few first aid supplies, "Wendell worked really hard to clean up this morning." She has a slight frown.

Cole sighs and applies pressure to the wound, "I'm gonna step outside really quick..." Cole starts heading out the door. Rosey follows as she holds up some gauze to him.

Cole takes the gauze and applies it to his wound with a sigh, "I'm sorry about the floors, I can clean them if you want."

"Nah, Wendell's got it. Make him actually work a bit for the first time in his life." She gets a small lollipop out as well and holds it out to Cole.

Cole raises an eyebrow as he asks in a joking tone, "Do I get a lollipop for good behavior?" Cole reaches out to take the lollipop with his wounded arm so he can keep pressure.

Rosey nods and smiles again as she puts her backpack on, "Yes, you didn't come in screaming about it like a bitch. Not to mention walking out when you started soaking the floor boards."

Cole smiles and rolls his eyes, "I've been shot before, I'd only be screaming if it was fatal and even then I'd still be relatively polite." he puts the lollipop in his mouth.

"Hm. You two got a lot in common then. I'll go make sure Wendell is doing ok though. Be right back!" Rosey instantly heads back into the bakery, taking a small hop over the puddle of blood and heading to the back. Her ears can only be seen peeking over the display cases before the door opens, closes again, and she's gone.

Cole sighs as he sits down, partially staring at the puddle on the floor while waiting. After a moment he hears the door to the backroom open. Cole stops staring at the puddle on the ground and looks up and around, starting to look woozy at this point.

He sees Wendell and Rosey step out from the backroom. Rosey happily scurries around to the bar stool. Wendell however has looked better. His usual confident stature is slightly folded in, giving less of the feel of a strong business owner and more of the look a kid gives when they've been scolded.

Cole seems concerned as he stares at Wendell for a couple seconds then sighs as he heats up his fingers to start cauterizing his wound. Wendell and Rosey exchange a few words before Rosey hops off the stool again and heads for the door by Cole.

Cole glances up and stops cauterizing his wound, the air around vaguely smells like burning plastic. Rosey opens the door and holds it open, "Do you want another pretzel? It's on the house from me."

Cole shakes his head, "I'm good, I'm actually not hungry this time."

Rosey nods, "Need anything else then?"

Cole shakes his head again, "Are you sure you don't want me to clean up the blood? I know how to make sure it doesn't stain."

Rosey giggles a bit, "I've got it handled. Believe it or not it's not the first time a little spill hit those floors. At least you had the decency to step outside instead of laying in the middle of the floor."

Cole looks concerned as he asks, "Is Wendell alright? He looked like he saw a ghost, hope I didn't scare him too bad."

Rosey dismissively swipes at the air as she rolls her eyes, "I'm sure he'll be fine. An arm wound is nothing compared to watching someone die in front of you."

Cole stares for a couple seconds before nodding, "I'm alright, I'll come in and apologize in a second."

Rosey smiles, "Okey dokey!" She steps back into the bakery to sit on the bar stool again.

Cole finishes cauterizing his wound and puts the gauze in his pocket as he heads inside, making sure to step around the puddle.

Wendell seems to hide away the look he had before and resumes a somewhat welcoming smile, "Well that was an entrance huh?" Rosey looks over her shoulder as Cole enters.

Cole sighs and shakes his head, "Sorry for scaring you, I know Rosey already said that she'd clean it up but I don't have much to do today." Cole gives a slight glare at Rosey then looks back at Wendell as he smiles.

Rosey's smile seems to lightly dim as Wendell nervously laughs, "That's alright man. We got it handled. Though what exactly happened?"

Cole goes quiet while staring then explains after a minute, "It's a long story, I'm sure you've got things to do instead of hearing me talk."

Wendell shrugs, "On the contrary, my job is practically hearing the weird stories that pass through here."

Cole glances around as he takes a seat on one the stools, "I'd say it's a little worse than weird." He looks nervous.

Wendell mumbles, "...I've probably heard worse from Rosey." Rosey looks over at Wendell and frowns.

Cole sighs as he whispers to Wendell, explaining what happened earlier at the tower but tweaking the story slightly to remove the mention of his wings.

As he whispers, Rosey seems to be watching intently as if hoping to hear anything. Wendell's brow furrows in thought as he thinks. Cole finishes explaining and glances at Rosey to see if she was obviously trying to listen in. Rosey still stares.

Wendell huffs, "Well that's something I guess. I won't be sharing that, don't worry."

Cole glares at Rosey for a moment then turns back to Wendell, "Thank you, I'm glad I can trust you." Cole seems to be thinking about something as he taps his fingers against his leg. The room gets fairly quiet as Wendell is making more pretzels and Rosey slowly sips from a coffee she had ordered before he got here.

Cole speaks up and looks over at Wendell as he asks, "When you aren't busy I'd like to speak with you." then subtly glances at Rosey, "Privately"

Wendell keeps his eyes on what he's doing as he nods, "Sounds good. I can go on a lunch break in about an hour if that's ok with you." Rosey pays no mind to it and continues to sip.

Cole nods, "That's good with me, I'm gonna walk around for a bit." Cole stands up and walks out the store and starts walking library.
